What is this anyway?

Great question! So glad you asked!

iPhoneHome is a (tentatively named) website to aggregate all those little pieces of data from different "standard" (or extended) applications into a central, easily accessible location. All without application fees or the need to download any application to your phone. You simply register an account and begin adding any of the configurable modules to your phone's new website. In short, you will get a homepage that looks something like the one to the right

You can add any module at any level and choose to have a module only show during particular times. For example, display info relating to the bus going in in the morning and the reverse bus in the evening. Or display the weather in the morning, stocks in the afternoon, and then your favorite RSS feeds in the evening. The times to display each are entirely configurable.

How much does it cost?

iPhoneHome will always be free. None of your personal information is collected/given out except for the purposes of resetting your password at a later time or sending system-wide notifications for additional features, planned outages or so forth. Even so, it will be opt-in only (I don't have this system set up yet). You will never receive spam from this site or any partner as a result of this site.

Even though the site is free, you get a lot of applications that are often paid-for applications within the standard store. For example, real-time BART and MUNI arrivals are available for free within, along with RSS feeds info, traffic info, etc.

Do I need an iPhone?

Nope! Currently, the design is intended to mimic the iPhone look and feel, and thus displays nicely on the iPhone. In addition, some features are currently optimized for iPhones, but there's no "need" to use an iPhone to use the functions on this website. You can just as easily view the site on your computer or any other javascript-enabled phone. Check out http://iphone.eskibars.com/index.php/admin in your phone/browser (doesn't really show well in IE, but should work in FF or Safari).
